Installation and principle of front wheel clutch lock for daliy 4x4
Military vehicles are designed this way to ensure that they can switch to four-wheel drive at any time. In wartime, life and death can happen in an instant, and the lifespan of a military vehicle may only be a few dozen hours or even a few hours. Therefore, as a military vehicle, the axle clutch is obviously a bit redundant.
However, if you're using it as a civilian vehicle for a long time, economy and comfort must be taken into consideration. By replacing the front flange and installing an axle lock, you can switch between the front wheels and the CV joint axle. When not using four-wheel drive, you can disconnect the transmission from the front CV joint axle. This way, only the tires rotate while driving, and the front CV joint, half-shaft, and drive shaft do not work, reducing noise, drag, and fuel consumption, and protecting the front CV joint, half-shaft, and drive shaft.
The following are the steps for installing the shaft head lock; it is a non-destructive installation.
1: Unloading the tires
2: Remove the shaft head cover
3: Remove the flange. Be careful here, there is a retaining circlip on the half-shaft gear, you need to remove it.
4. Install the flange and shaft lock.
The flange and shaft lock can be installed together, but the shaft lock cover must be removed beforehand.
Remember, do not twist the removed cover; keep it in its original position. You can apply a small amount of grease inside the shaft lock,
but don't use too much. After installation, remember to reinstall the retaining ring before putting the cover back on.
After installation, rotate the knob left and right to test if the shaft lock separates smoothly.
If the shaft is frequently exposed to water, apply some sealant between the shaft head lock and the flange.
5.Finally install the tires
